THE BEGINNING
The story of Basant Kothi begins with our founder. The daughter of an army officer, she grew up moving from one Indian city to another, making a new home every two years. Each move brought with it a new landscape, a new culture, new people, and a new way of seeing the world.
India became her greatest influence.
From the old-world charm of its cities to the richness of its regional textiles and the quiet skill of its craftspeople, these early experiences cultivated a deep curiosity and an instinctive love for design.
Years of travel further shaped her eye — a fascination with beautiful spaces, collected objects, natural materials, and the stories held within things made by hand.
